The GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel is offering a position for a Chemical Engineer in the research unit Marine Geosystems of the research division 2, Marine Biogeochemistry. Duties:
- Performing routine measurements on a plasma-mass-spectrometer (MC-ICP-MS) including the use of a laser ablation system
- Quality assurance (data reduction, sample documentation, data archiving)
- Responsible for lab safety, machine maintenance and repair
- Implementation of new analytical routines for the MC-ICP-MS
- Contribution to method development and system optimization
Requirements
- Degree in chemical engineering or equivalent skills
- Advanced knowledge of quantitative instrumental analysis
- Experience in thermal ionisation (TIMS) and multi-collector-plasma-mass-spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS)
- Good spoken and written English
