Description

ALBA is a 3GeV electron synchrotron light source in operation, located in Cerdanyola del Vallés, Barcelona, Spain. The CELLS consortium is the responsible of the maintenance and operation. ALBA accelerators include: a Linac at 100 MeV, a Booster to ramp the energy up to 3 GeV and a Storage Ring. There are seven operational beamlines. The synchrotron operates 24 hours per day, seven days a week, in periods of around four weeks, for up to ten periods per year. CELLS is seeking specialized personnel in diagnostics for accelerators. The key functions of the post are:

- Operation and maintenance of the diagnostics equipment of the accelerators.
- Involvement in the upgrade projects of the diagnostics system
- Involvement in the design of future projects.
- Operation of the ALBA accelerators, including shifts and on-call, accordantly to the established schedule.
- In due course and depending on the development of the accelerators and project requirements the candidate will be expected to take up work as defined by the Division Head.

Requirements

- Qualified to degree level in an appropriate branch of Physics or Engineering.
- 3 years experience in accelerators physics.
- Experience in diagnostics equipment for accelerator is required.
- Experience in synchrotron radiation based diagnostics will be an asset.
- Knowledge and practical experience in measurement devices as oscilloscopes, network and spectrum analysers.
- Available to work on shifts during the operation periods.
- Good interpersonal, communication and people working skills.
- Good command in English language.
