A postdoctoral position in Structural Biology is available at the Biomolecular Structure Group of IBMC. The position is available from November 1st and funded for 12 months (other funding opportunities available).

Requirements

A PhD in Biochemistry or a related field, as well as strong background in protein expression and purification and/or protein crystallography is required for unveiling the mechanism of action of a Fe-S cluster-containing transcription factor.

PostDoc - Galaxies and Cosmology

The Centro de Astrofisica da Universidade do Porto (CAUP) is advertising a postdoc position to work with Andrew Humphrey and the Galaxies and Cosmology group.  This position can be started as early as June 2013, and will end by 30 September 2014. The salary is 17940 euro per year, and is tax-free. The successful candidate will focus primarily on the analysis of GTC optical spectroscopy of radio-loud active galaxies at z>2, as part of an ongoing project to understand the nature of the giant Lyman-alpha emitting nebulae and extended absorbers associated with this class of galaxy (e.g. 2013, ApJL, 768, L3; 2013, MNRAS, 428, 563H).

PostDoc - Biodiversity observation systems

Description

CIBIO is a young and highly dynamic Research Centre located close to Porto, in the north of Portugal, which aims to be an international Centre of Excellence in the fields of Biodiversity and Evolution, offering great opportunities for multidisciplinary and stimulating research. The Centre is part of InBIO, a Portuguese Associate Laboratory, occupies recently-built facilities, and has more than 130 researchers holding a PhD degree, as well as more than 100 MSc and PhD students, and people from many different countries. Researchers are organized in 17 research groups. The working atmosphere is vibrant and enthusiastic, and CIBIO is regularly visited by many scientists from abroad. Porto is a world-heritage town, capital of Port wine, and the Northern region of Portugal provides rich cultural and outdoor activities. The Centre has fully equipped molecular laboratories (multiple PCR rooms, automated sequencers, real-time PCR machines, etc), as well as technicians and administrative staff, and the necessary equipment for fieldwork.
