PostDoc - ALMA observations of quasars

Located at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, DARK's areas of interest include: high-redshift galaxy evolution, quasars, supernovae, reionization, gamma-ray bursts, dark matter, dark energy, cosmic dust, clusters of galaxies and gravitational lensing. This is a specially-funded position to work on observational projects related to ALMA observations of quasars.
 
Requirements
 
The postdoctoral candidate is expected to have a PhD in astronomy or astrophysics obtained after 1 October 2010 and have experience in observing and processing of radio data.  Experience with ALMA millimeter observations, data processing, and analysis would be a significant advantage as the project tasks will include to obtain, process and analyze ALMA imaging and spectroscopic data.

Selection of the successful candidates will be made by the Centre’s Research and Hiring Committee, where the principal selection criteria will be outstanding research accomplishments and promise of future achievement. The employment is scheduled to start in the fall of 2013, or upon agreement with the chosen candidate. The position is for a period of 2 years with the possibility of extension. Salary, pension and terms of employment are in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Government and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).  In addition to the basic salary a monthly contribution to a pension fund is added (17.1% of the salary).  The basic salary depends on seniority, approximately 32,000-34,000 DKK/month (4,200-4,400 €/month). A supplement can be negotiated, depending on the candidate’s experiences and qualifications.
