The consortium for Construction, Equipment and Exploitation of the Synchrotron Light Laboratory (CELLS) is jointly funded by the Spanish Government and the Catalan Government. The consortium constructs and operates the Synchrotron Light Facility, named ALBA, in the Barcelona area (Vallès Occidental). This is one of the most exciting research projects currently undertaken in Spain. CELLS offers you a unique opportunity to participate in this project as part of a dynamic team with many possibilities in an great environment. We are looking for an instrument scientist to participate in the development and commissioning of a hard X-ray spectrometer. The successful candidate will undertake a part of the development and optimization of sub-components of the system in close collaboration with the support staff from Engineering and Control groups. He/she will also participate in the commissioning with beam, optimization and benchmark experiments of the instrument at the BL22-CLAESS beamline. The successful candidate will be integrated within the Beamline Operation and Development Section of the Experiments 
 
Requirements
 
Candidates should hold a University Degree (PhD is an asset but not strictly required) in Physics, Engineering, or a closely related discipline. The candidates should have demonstrable skills on precision mechanics and electronics. Experience in control software is an asset. Experience in hard X-ray optics and spectroscopy are also an advantage. The successful candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal capabilities and be able to work independently in an international, multidisciplinary research environment. ALBA-CELLS working language is English. Basic knowledge of Spanish or Catalan would be an advantage.
