Centre of Excellence for Ice and Climate at the Niels Bohr Institute
Copenhage, Denmark

Description:

A position as Postdoctoral Researcher (from November 2012 to end of December 2014) in ice sheet and radio echo layer-related research is available at the Centre for Ice and Climate, a Danish National Research Foundation Centre of Excellence located at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. Climate Change Specialist

International Hydropower Association
Sutton; London, UK

IHA has a rare opening for a Climate Change Specialist in its London headquarters office. This is an exciting position ideal for someone with a water-quality, climate change or related background, who wishes to use their project management and marketing skills to drive a project forward. IHA and our partners have developed greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions measurement guidelines, and are developing a predictive risk model to help project developers and the finance community understand the potential for GHG emissions related to water storage infrastructure, including hydropower projects. The Climate Change Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the next phase of the GHG project, including on-going application and validation of the model with IHA members and a panel of experts. The Climate Change Specialist will also be responsible for engaging with international partners to drive the expanded understanding, acceptance and use of these tools among key stakeholder groups. In addition, the Climate Change Specialist will engage in IHA’s other work related to climate change and hydropower, including reviews of climate change’s impact on hydrology, and hydropower’s role in climate change adaptation and mitigation, including associated incentives such as the Clean Development Mechanism and others. The role involves engagement with stakeholders from industry, scientific, policy, and financial communities from around the world. We are looking for someone who is comfortable writing and delivering reports and presentations, engaging with international multi-stakeholder audiences, and presenting and defending research. The position requires a willingness to travel in support of GHG measurement campaigns, as well as participation in international climate change policy and scientific fora, such as UN Climate Change Conferences and related events.

The position is open to candidates currently eligible to work in the United Kingdom. Interested candidates should email a professional CV to recruitment@hydropower.org along with a formal letter of application describing why the post is of interest, demonstrating that your skills and experience are consistent with the requirements, and an indication of your current salary.
