Instrument Operations Engineer/Scientist, Planck Science Office, based at European Space Astronomy Centre, Madrid, Spain. For our activities in the European Space Agency, we are looking for an Engineer/Scientist with a PhD in astronomy to support the Planck Science Office. The main tasks of the Planck Science Office (PSO) are:

Detailed specification (in collaboration with the DPCs and the Planck Science Team) of the data products to be generated from the mission

Monitoring of the proper implementation of the data reduction activities carried out at the DPCs. In particular verification that the level of coordination between the two DPCs is sufficient to guarantee an integrated final set of data products.

Full responsibility in the requirement specification and implementation follow-up of the Planck Legacy Archive (PLA)

Release of the PLA to the Scientific Community and provision of Help-Desk services

Contrato postdoctoral CONSOLIDER EPI I 2012

El IAC (Tenerife), centro de investigación astrofísica puntera en España, anuncia un contrato post-doctoral en el marco del proyecto “EXPLORANDO LA FÍSICA DE LA INFLACCIÓN”, con referencia CSD2010-00064 (ver http://www.epi-consolider.es ), cuyo Investigador Principal es el Dr. Enrique Martínez González.  Uno de los nodos está en el IAC (“Fondo Cósmico de Microondas”), donde el Investigador Principal es el Dr. José Alberto Rubiño Martín.

El perfil del candidato seleccionado es el de un doctor en astrofísica con una formación sólida en cosmología y una gran experiencia en el análisis de datos de CMB.  Se valorará que el investigador tenga experiencia en el procesado de datos de la misión Planck.

CEFCA (http://www.cefca.es) is the Center for Astrophysics and Cosmology located in Teruel (Spain) which is in charge of the design, construction and scientific exploitation of the Observatorio Astrofísico de Javalambre (OAJ). The OAJ, particularly designed for carrying out large scale surveys, will consist of two telescopes: the T250, a wide-field 2.5m telescope with a field of view (FoV) of 3 deg diameter (corresponding to 476.4mm), and the T80, an 80cm telescope with a 2 deg FoV. The T250 will have a plate scale of 22.67"/mm. The goal of the T250 and its panoramic camera, JPCam, is to carry out the so called Javalambre PAU (Physics of the Accelerated Universe) Astrophysical Survey, hereafter J-PAS, a photometric all-sky survey of about 8,000 square degrees using 54 narrow band filters of 13.8nm, from about 370 to 920nm,supplemented with two broad band filters. JPCam is a 14-CCD mosaic camera using the new e2v 9.2k-by-9.2k, 10μm pixel, detectors, providing a pixel scale of ~0.23 "/pixel. The instrument’s filter unit will be designed to admit 5 filter trays, each mounting 14 square filters corresponding to the 14 CCDs of the mosaic. Each CCD will view only its corresponding filter avoiding optical cross-talk from their neighbors. The filters will operate close to, but outside, the dewar window in a fast (f/3.6) converging beam. Thus JPCam images will be taken with 14 different J-PAS filters (one on top of each CCD) at any one pointing of the telescope.
