PostDoc - Sustainable Production and Consumption

The Sustainable Production and Consumption Unit has a vacancy for a post-doctoral researcher to work in environmental economics. The research will focus on the analysis of environmental and economic aspects of consumption and production patterns and relevant policy implications. It will also cover the analysis of environmental policies and related regulatory instruments. The successful candidate’s main tasks will consist in the development and use of environmental economic models and in conducting, formulating and coordinating techno-economic studies, the management and monitoring of research tasks, analysis and summary of results and preparation of reports for policy makers. He/she should have an academic and professional background in environmental economics or in applied economics. He/she should have a good overview of the different environmental problems. Candidates should have a good understanding of the relationship between economy, technology, environment and consumption and production patterns as well as societal change and its policy implications. A good knowledge of EU Environmental and Sustainable Development Policies is an asset. Knowledge of quantitative methods and tools such as environmental economic models, environmentally extended input output analysis or environmental accounts is required. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree or having fulfilled all the obligations to obtain a PhD (certified by the university) or having a minimum of 5 years research experience after the first university degree giving access to doctoral studies (which may include periods of training such as a masters degree) in a field relevant to the JRC's scientific activities. A very good level of written and spoken English is essential and knowledge of at least one other EU language is compulsory.
