Are you interested in protecting marine biodiversity and helping society use the marine environment in a sustainable way? Do you have the scientific background and experience needed to work in this field for an independent adviser to Government? JNCC advises Government on UK and international nature conservation and is looking to expand its Marine Directorate, at twin locations in Peterborough and Aberdeen. With exciting developments in its portfolio, JNCC is increasing its capacity to give advice on the assessment, monitoring and management of the marine environment, and is looking to recruit at least 10 new staff. Broad relevant marine knowledge and experience are essential, but we’re also looking for some specialist skills and knowledge for some posts, such as an understanding of UK marine habitats and how to assess their quality and condition knowledge of marine nature conservation policy and legislation experience in survey planning, and participation in offshore surveys, including interpretation of acoustic data and acquisition of biological and physicochemical samples
All candidates that are invited to interview will be asked to carry out a brief written exercise on the day, as well as a GIS assessment test for those posts where that specific skill is needed. The closing date is 09:00 30 July 2012. Interviewing, which will take place towards the end of August and the beginning of September, will be mainly conducted in Peterborough, but Aberdeen is also possible.
