PostDoc - Several topics

Description

The UPFellows program promoted by Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF, Barcelona, Spain) aims to offer career development opportunities to outstanding junior postdoctoral researchers of any nationality. UPF Fellows will join one of the most unique and dynamic research environments in Europe, where they will be able to advance in their research and further develop their professional skills with a career development plan guided by a senior scientific mentor. The program aims to attract talented researchers from anywhere in the world to a career in Europe. UPFellows program will offer 24 international fellowships. Candidates will be recruited by two separate calls for applications and a competitive selection process. The first call will offer 12 positions in different research fields. The final number of selected candidates will depend on the quality of the applications received. The UPFellows is funded jointly by the Marie Curie COFUND program (7th Framework Program) and the UPF.

Requirements

Eligibility is determined using the information provided in the application via the web application. For an application to be eligible:

1. It must be received before the deadline.
2. It must be complete, including specifically: a full CV, a statement of research interests and plans for the UPFellow period the names of three scholars who are willing to serve as references for the applicant an indication of which panel the applicant wishes to consider his/her application
3. It must document that the applicant holds a PhD or will hold a PhD degree by 30th September 2013 (call for applications 2013) will undertake transnational mobility, defined as the applicant not having carried out his or her main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the submission of the application. Short stays, such as holidays, are not considered.

Two senior researches

Institute of Biomedical Research of Vigo

Description

BIOCAPS (Biomedical Capacities Support Program) is a research initiative funded by the EU Seventh Framework Program (REGPOT 2012-2013-1) to support the Institute of Biomedical Research of Vigo (IBIV), a newly established research institution of Servicio Galego de Saúde (Sergas) and the University of Vigo (SPAIN). Research laboratories are being built at the main Campus in Vigo, which also hosts state-of-the-art infrastructures for proteomics, medical bioinformatics, high-throughput sequencing, high-throughput screening, microscopy, biomarker discovery and other research platforms. The research areas of BIOCAPS include:

· Neurological Sciences and Rare Diseases
· Infectious Diseases, Inflammation and Immunity
· Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition
· Biomaterials, Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine
· Novel Tools in Diagnosis and Therapy
· Aging and Cardiovascular Diseases.

BIOCAPS is recruiting two senior researchers with the following expertise (see below):
· Senior Researcher on IMAGING. Ref. BIOCAPS 11
· Senior Researcher on AGEING. Ref. BIOCAPS 12

Successful candidates are expected to initiate a new independent research program on the above topics with significant translational opportunities. We expect multidisciplinary research collaborations with other BIOCAPS research groups.

PostDoc - ICT for Long Term Care

The Information Society (IS) Unit has a vacancy for a postdoctoral researcher to work in particular in the area of "ICT for Long term Care". This area focuses on investigating, from a technological, social, economic and policy perspectives, the current and potential use of technological solutions and innovations that support independent living of elderly people, that allow better organisation of the provision of care or increase the productivity and quality of long-term care delivery. It aims at providing input for the design of long term care strategies at Member States.
 
Requirements
 
The successful candidate should demonstrate knowledge and/or experience in social and/or economic research on "ICT for Long term care". Some experience in evidence based policy research would be an asset. Knowledge of the following would also be an advantage: quantitative and/or qualitative methods, the economics of long term care, evaluation and assessment methods, ICT impact analysis and/or foresight.
