Description
We are looking to recruit an experienced Ecologist or Senior Ecologist who would be able to work effectively across a wide range of disciplines and help to manage and develop our expanding client base. This position also allows applicants the opportunity to undertake a broad range of ecology projects and due to the nature of the company, employees are actively encouraged to continue to develop their own niche areas of interest such as ornithology, botany, mammals, freshwater or project areas such as wind turbines. We are pleased to offer this opportunity for a motivated, ambitious and enthusiastic ecologist to enhance our team. Applicants should hold a degree in an ecology-related subject and preferably be a full member of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM), or other equivalent organisations. The successful applicant will be required to manage and complete work comprising:
- Extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys and protected species surveys including EPSL applications.
- Mitigation strategies, management plans and Ecological Impact Assessment chapters (EcIA).
- Write concise reports and communicate clear verbal guidance to clients.
- Ability to co-ordinate and manage projects and sub-contractors and prepare tenders for projects; familiarity with the BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes schemes is desirable.
- Assist directors in business development and marketing activities

Requirements
- Appropriate degree level qualifications including IEEM Membership
- Experience of preparing European Protected Species Licenses and writing high quality ecological reports.
- Undertaking Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs) for Environmental Statements
- Project management, including sub-contractors and budgets
- Working closely with planners, landscape architects, developers, local planning and other relevant organisations.
- Adeptness in conducting and evaluating detailed botanical and protected species surveys including Phase 1 and NVC methodologies
- 2 to 4 years relevant experience
- Full, Clean UK Driving License
