The Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in solar physics, dedicated to modelling of solar spectral irradiance variations using the output of 3D radiation MHD simulations and the observed magnetograms. Buscamos un candidato cuyo objetivo sea realizar una investigación conducente a la obtención de la tesis doctoral para incorporarse a  los trabajos de investigación del Grupo y Estudios Fundamentales del Instituto de Energía Solar (SEF-IES-UPM) en el ámbito de la fabricación y estudio de células solares de última generación.
El candidato tendrá la oportunidad de tomar parte en proyectos regionales, nacionales, europeos e internacionales y en contacto con empresas; así como trabajar en instalaciones de última generación (Laboratorio IBLAB & Infraestructura del Campus de Excelencia MBE- GEN10-VEECO).

PhD - High efficiency solar cells

Description

The Thesis proposed is focused on developing epitaxy processes to use the III-V-on-Si virtual substrates developed at IES -UPM to manufacture III-V multijunction solar cells on mono-crystalline silicon wafers and thus produce inexpensive high-efficiency solar cells.

Requirements

-A degree in Physics, Electronic Engineering,Telecommunication Engineering or Materials Science.Candidates should have graduated no earlier than 2011.
-Good academic record (above 2.2).
-Great motivation for scientific work and ability for team work.
-Basic knowledge on semiconductor physics, device physics, epitaxy or material characterization techniques (PL, XRD, EL, AFM, TEM, ....) is highly desirable.
-Full proficiency in English and basic knowledge of Spanish (or will to get it!) for foreign students.
-Starting date in Fall 2013.
