PostDoc - Human microbiome research

Description

We are looking for an experienced postgraduate or postdoctoral scientist to join a multi-disciplinary research team, engaged in the coordination of a large Collaborative European Project of the 7th Framework Program focused on human microbiome research. The consortium integrates leading world experts in microbiology, nutritional epidemiology, immunology, genetics, behavioural neurosciences, omic-technologies and computational modelling. Bringing together this expertise, CSIC together with its partners will develop a multidisciplinary initiative to elucidate the role the human gut microbiome and its interactions with lifestyle factors play in the development of diet- and brain-related disorders in critical periods of life.
The successful candidate will participate in this ambitious initiative to specifically identify key core components and functions of the human gut microbiome that contribute to obesity and its comorbidities and to behavioral alterations, by applying next generation sequencing techniques and metagenomic and functional approaches to animal models and human epidemiological and intervention studies.

Requirements

•Microbiology, genomics, metagenomics/transcriptomics, bioinformatics.
•Outstanding personal initiative and communication skills.
•Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
•High English level.
