Description

The Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Vienna is the largest Austrian institution of mathematical research and tertiary education in the mathematical sciences. It consists of active research groups in a wide range of fields, starting from logical foundations, bridging all classical core subjects, and up to concrete applications in industry. As part of the Faculty, the Institute of Mathematics represents the entire discipline of mathematics in research and teaching, without making an arbitrary separation into pure and applied fields.
The position is part of the research area Harmonic Analysis. We are looking for an independent scientist with research interest in the area of of harmonic analysis.
The candidate is expected to develop an independent research profile and cooperate with the harmonic analysis group. The teaching duties include recitation sessions and courses for Bachelor students according to the university rules. Unless the candidate does not have a habilitation, s/he is expected to obtain one within six years.

Requirements

A completed PhD or Doctorate in mathematics or a similar qualification is required for all candidates as well as experience in teaching and research in the area of harmonic analysis, in particular in time-frequency analysis, general wavelet theories or approximation theory. The candidate should be willing to apply for external funding, excellence in teaching.
