Description
The focus of the lab is to characterize the regulation of macrophage heterogeneity in response to hypoxia and to determine the role of this response during the process of angiogenesis.
With the aim of our research on macrophage manipulation towards a desired phenotype, we will offer new treatment options for cancer and ischemia that might result in optimized therapies and overcome resistance to currently used drugs.
Successful candidates will be involved in this research project, under the direct supervision of Prof. Mazzone. Working in the team of Prof. Mazzone will offer the candidate the opportunity to acquire experience in molecular and cellular biology, transgenesis, in vivo animal models and state-of-the-art research tools including: FACS, lentiviral vector and gene therapy, bone-marrow transplantation and HSC manipulation.
