Description
The position is part of an EU collaborative project, entitled Optimized esterase biocatalysts for cost-effective industrial production, in which new esterases for the production of anti-oxidants will be developed. The novel genes will be based on genome mining as well as gene engineering and will be expressed in available enzyme production hosts and the properties of the enzymes will be investigated. The postdoc will collaborate intensively with a bioinformatician and a PhD student at CBS as well as with several partners in the project. In addition, the postdoc will have as task the daily supervision of 1-2 PhD students.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates with a PhD in biotechnology or a related field. In depth experience with (fungal) gene expression and enzyme characterization is required. Experience with comparative genomics, protein modeling, phylogenetic analysis and site-directed mutagenesis is an advantage. Experience with and affinity for supervision of PhD students will also be taken into account. Mention CBS-2013-03 in applications.
