Description

The Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA), based in Girona, Spain, is offering a position as a Postdoctoral researcher in the group of Water Quality for the study of different aspects related to the presence of emerging contaminants in aquatic environment. The candidate will be expected to support research related to the determination of organic contaminants and their transformation products in water and biota in the frame of the European project ECSafeSEAFOOD. The candidate has to be able to conduct independent research and to work in a multidisciplinary environment, with high level of communication and minimum supervision.

Requirements

• PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry or related areas.
• The position requires experience with extraction techniques of complex matrices as well as with chromatographic techniques coupled to mass spectrometry. Instrumentation available includes LC-MS/MS, LC-QqLIT, GC-MS/MS, LC-HRMS, and others. Understanding in chemical and biological processes occurring in natural environment is also desirable.
• The successful candidate should have a record of excellent research including publications, presentations in international conferences, etc.
• Fluent English, spoken and written, is essential.

Characteristics of the job:

• Expected start: between May 1st and June 1st 2013
• The position is for a 12 months period
• Gross salary package: 24.000 €/year
