Description
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position within the sub-department of Atmospheric, Oceanic and Planetary Physics. The successful applicant will work in the Planetary Experiments Group on the development of a new thermal infrared spectral library and the analysis of infrared remote sensing data from the Moon and asteroids.
Requirements
Applicants should have a good first degree in Physics, Earth/Planetary science or a related discipline and a doctorate in an experimental field. It will be an advantage to have experience in any of the following areas: infrared spectroscopy; remote sensing of planetary surfaces, especially in the near and mid-infrared; cryogenic and vacuum equipment; computer based data analysis using high-level languages (e.g. Python, Matlab, IDL or similar); mineral sample preparation and characterisation. Teaching of up to three hours per week may be required.
