Description:
The group leaded by Dr. Jun Yokota, who will join the IMPPC in September 2012, is recruiting two postdoctoral investigators to join an exciting research project for the identification of molecular targets for therapy in lung and colorectal carcinoma. The project will involve cell biology and molecular biology approaches and also cancer genomics and epigenomics. The identification of genetic and epigenetic alterations, and their interactions, at high resolution will help to identify diagnostic and prognostic and also potential therapeutic targets. The project will focus on the genome-wide analysis of a collection of human tumor samples using state-of-the-art genomics and epigenomics platforms available at the IMPPC Genomics Unit (massively parallel sequencing, Illumina Infinium HM450K, etc). The subsequent validation of putative markers found by these high-throughput screenings will require the use of in vitro cell culture and molecular biology techniques (RT-qPCR, mutagenesis, siRNA, functional studies, etc).
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a high degree of motivation and enthusiasm to work in a team. He/she will have proven to be able to perform innovative research and have good organization and communication skills.
PhD in Biology, Biochemistry or similar, or MD PhD preferably with experience in cancer genetics, cell biology and molecular biology.
English (required). Spanish and/or Japanese would be helpful.
Previous experience in related projects and in the analysis of large data sets will be positively evaluated
Experience in cancer genetics, molecular biology and cell biology experimental work as well as high-throughput data analysis will be extremely valuable.
Conditions:
The positions are funded by a grant from the Instituto de Salud Carlos III, offering competitive salaries for up to four years. Incorporation on September 2012 is required.

Opened in 2009 the IMPPC is located in the Serralada Marina Nature Reserve (Can Ruti Campus, Badalona) just outside of Barcelona and offers excellent working conditions in an attractive environment. The still expanding institute currently contains 11 groups that focus on various aspects of tumor biology, and cancer genetics and epigenetics. The IMPPC has its own and shared state-of-the-art genomics facilities including several ultra-sequencing platforms.
