Institute description:

IREC is one of the three most relevant Spanish research centres in the energy field. Located in Barcelona (Spain) it is focused on the scientific basic, applied research and the technology transfer to the market. The Electrical Engineering is one of the six Areas of knowledge: Ad-vanced Materials, Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Cities, Lighting, Bioenergy and Offshore Wind Energy. The Electrical Engineering Research Area is divided into three research groups: Power Elec-tronics, Power Systems and Energy Economics. The vision of the Area is to become an international reference centre in R&D in the field of wind energy, smart grids and electrical mobility. The Area has a signed portfolio of projects of 4.6 M€, and a team of 28 people.

Description:
Will work on technical research projects in the fields of microgrids, smartgrids, electric vehicles and renewable energy sources. The tasks to be carried out will be mainly focused on energy economics and regulation aspects. Technical tasks involving simulation and emulation of power systems will also be performed. This professional must be highly skilled in planning and organizing. Capacity to work in a team, flexible, innovative, with initiative and problem solving skills. High level of analytical and synthesis skills. The professional is expected to complete his doctoral thesis on a topic related to his scientific work within three or four years and to publish high-level articles.



Qualifications and experience required:

Essential:
Background in electrical engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science. Experience in electromobility projects and optimization techniques

Preferred:
Experience in the energy sector: microgrids, smartgrids, electric vehicles and renewable energy sources

Language required:
Fluent in Spanish and English
