Description

ALBA is the Spanish Synchrotron Radiation Facility operated by the Consortium CELLS, which is  equally funded by the Spanish Government (Ministerio de Economía y Competividad) and the Catalan Government (Generalitat de Catalunya, Departament d'Economia i Coneixement). ALBA consists of a complex of electron accelerators whose objectives are to generate extremely brilliant synchrotron light beams with photon energies spanning from the infrared to the hard X-ray region. 
The postdoc will join the CLAESS beamline team (http://www.cells.es/Beamlines/CLAESS/). This beamline is devoted to two complementary hard X-ray techniques: absorption and emission spectroscopies.
The postdoc to be hired will participate in all the activities of the beamline. Specific tasks are:
 - To provide support to public and industrial users of CLAESS beamline.
 - To collaborate with the beamline staff on upgrades, commissioning and maintenance of the beamline instrumentation.
 - To carry out research with X-ray emission and absorption techniques.

Requirements

- Degree: The candidate should hold a Ph.D. in physics, materials science, chemistry or a closely related discipline.
- Experience in hard X-ray absorption and/or emission spectroscopies is desirable.
- Experience in synchrotron hard X-ray instrumentation is appreciated.
In addition to that, he/she should have adaptability to work in an international and multidisciplinary environment, sense of responsibility and ability to work as a team member as well as independently. 
The working language at ALBA synchrotron and CLAESS beamline is English.

More information and applications

Period: This is a contract is for 3 years and includes a test period of 6 months. The 3-years contract can not be renewed.
Salary: The postdoc yearly gross salary in ALBA is 28,870 €.
