Description
As part of an international collaboration entitled "Exploring the X-ray Transient and variable Sky", funded through the 7th framework programme of the EU, the High-Energy group of the Max-Planck-Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics offers a 3-yr post-doc position which includes the development of software packages for quality control and data screening of products resulting from a timing analysis pipeline to characterise X-ray sources.
The successful applicant will work closely together with F. Haberl (fwh@mpe.mpg.de) and Th. Boller (bol@mpe.mpg.de) within MPE's high-energy group.
Requirements
Applicants should have a PhD in Computer Science, Astronomy or Physics and extensive experience in maintaining and developing complex software packages and documenting and specifying software systems and interfaces. The efficient use of scripting and programming languages is mandatory as well as experience with automated production of diagnostic metrics/figures and strong communication and team working skills.
