PostDoc - Molecular Biology of Cancer

University College London
London, UK

Description

UCL is a world-class university in the heart of London and has been voted by the Scientist magazine as the best international place to work for postdocs. The UCL Cancer Institute is an interdisciplinary centre of excellence that provides state-of-the-art facilities for over 350 scientists to investigate fundamental aspects of cancer. A 2-years post-doctoral position is available in the Molecular Biology of Cancer group of Dr. Ivana Bjedov to study the regulation of tumour growth in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. The project will focus on the insulin and target-of-rapamycin signalling pathways and how these pathways regulate proliferation in Drosophila tumour models. We are studying these major nutrient-sensing pathways at a biochemical, cellular and organismal level to uncover novel alterations in cancer cells that are crucial for proliferation. The successful candidate will work on well-established Drosophila tumour models and will contribute to projects that use Drosophila genetics, molecular biology and microscopy.
