Research engineer in positioning and robotics

ASCAMM Technology Centre
Barcelona, Spain

Description

At  ASCAMM Technology Centre we often say “if you can imagine it, we can manage to manufacture it”. Our doors are open to inventors, researchers, entrepreneurs and forward-thinkers at large, and we are willing to listen, assess and help their innovative ideas move ahead. Some of them become real things. We are one of the most active Spanish “Technology Centers”, that is to say, an entity bridging the gap between Universities and Industry. We work in multiple areas of knowledge: advanced manufacturing, new production technologies, new materials, intelligent systems, new applications, new industrial designs, new software for industry and new business models related to the aforementioned issues. We have a clear conviction of the underlying power of R&D results, because “today's Science is Tomorrow's technology”. With a 160+ staff we are currently either leading and/or involved in more than 100 R&D projects supported by public funding schemes (regional, national and European). ASCAMM is part of the Campus of International Excellence of the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona [www.uab.cat]. We are located in the Valles Technopark [www.ptv.es], a nice wooded area, twenty minutes away from Barcelona downtown.

The applicant shall work in several research lines and at several layers of the positioning and the navigation of autonomous vehicle architectures, like signal measurements processing, positioning algorithms (in particular, Indoor positioning using wireless networks), data fusion of measurements from different positioning sensors (wireless signals, GNSS, inertial, laser, electro-optical sensors, etc), network and hardware configuration, etc. The research and development can be done in different hardware platforms, like Android smartphones, wireless tags, robots, ...
