Description
A postdoctoral position is available for a dynamic, highly motivated researcher to work in the research group of Professor R E Mulvey at the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry. The successful applicant for this fixed-term position (initially one-year from December 2012, with the possibility of extension for a further two years) will work on the project “A co-operative bimetallic approach for the transformation of lithiation” funded by the EPSRC. This project will develop a new concept in bimetallic chemistry, synergistic metal-metal co-operativity”, building on successful previous research (see Science, 2009, 326, 706; Nature Chemistry 2010, 2, 588). A key aim is to transform stoichiometric metallation into a substoichiometric process, ultimately leading to a sustainable catalytic process with recycling of the organometallic reagent. Results from the work will have a major impact in both academia and industry.
Requirements
You will have a PhD in organometallic or organic chemistry and experience in synthesis and/or catalysis. Preference will be given to candidates who have a track record of publications in international peer-reviewed chemistry journals.
