PhD - Biology

Instituto de Biología Funcional y Genómica
Salamanca, Spain

Description

The Laboratory of Prof. José Pérez-Martín, at the Instituto de Biología Funcional y Genómica (IBFG), in Salamanca, offers a PhD position. We are studying the connections between cell cycle regulation and the virulence program in Ustilago maydis, a fungus that induces tumors in corn. The successful applicant will focus on the characterization of new G2/M regulators with roles in virulence in this phytopathogen. We provide a funded position in a stimulating and ambitious environment. The IBFG is a recently opened CSIC-Universidad de Salamanca Research Institute focused on the study of the regulatory mechanisms of cellular functions and its integration in the context of the genome through advanced methodological approaches of cell biology, molecular genetics and genomics. The student will experience extensive training in molecular biology, genetics and life cell imaging techniques.

Requirements

We expect an ambitious and motivated co-worker who wants to join a dynamic team that aims to be creative and innovative in order to meet highest scientific standards. Applicants should have a Master's degree or equivalent in biology or a related field.
