Description
The Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA), based in Girona, Spain, is offering a researcher position in the group of Resources and Ecosystems (RiE). The candidate will become part of a large team dealing with the study of the metabolism and fate of dissolved carbon in rivers, in the project CARBONET (CGL2011-30474-C02-01) The researcher will focus his/her research on the role of biofilm and suspended aggregates on carbon use and transformation in Mediterranean river ecosystems, both in lotic as well as in lentic water bodies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent.
- PhD in these areas is of advantage.
- The position requires a complete understanding of the structure, metabolism, and ecology of microbial consortia, as well as a background on molecular biology, and has to show experience on field and laboratory procedures.
- The candidate has to prove the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment, with high level of communication and minimum supervision.
- Fluent English, spoken and written, is essential.
