Description
MULTI-POS is a Marie Curie ITN funded by the European Commission that will address challenging research topics in the field of wireless localization and will offer a comprehensive multi-dimensional and cross-boundary training to 15 selected researchers from all over the world. The main objectives of MULTI-POS network are: to bridge the gap between the lower technology layer and the upper application layer involved in wireless mobile positioning and navigation, to create novel methods, technologies and business models for the future location-enabled wireless devices, to improve the career perspectives of selected researchers in both public and private sectors, and to create a community of researchers capable of exploiting synergies and complementarities between various fields involved in location and navigation, such as engineering, social sciences, and business. Objectives:
1) Investigate how to extend the integrity and precision concept provided by GNSS Augmented systems to a wider user market.
2) Develop appropriate business models for receiver manufacturers.
In regions where SBAS is available, such as EGNOS in Europe, the user can benefit from an important improvement on the user performances in particular with regard to precision and integrity (Protection Levels and Alert Limits). The task will be scoped on investigating and providing new solutions/applications for multiconstellation GNSS enhanced/augmented systems. This research shall benefit from previous work performed within SIGMA IAPP FP7 Marie Curie Project (where PLD has developed a GNSS Multiconstellation Software Simulator and a GNSS Multiconstellation software receiver). The activity will be completed by the provision of user position computation with similar performances close to GNSS augmented services, with regard to precision and integrity, with low cost equipment and without geographic restrictions. For the applicability of the new concept within the GNSS market, appropriate business models in coordination with representative receiver manufacturers will also be developed.
