Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the Design, Synthesis and Structure of Peptides and Proteins Group (Principal Investigator Prof. Ernest Giralt) at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB). The successful candidate will work in the synthesis of complex bioactive peptide compounds for therapeutic purposes, more precisely, in the field of cyclic and bicyclic peptides able to disrupt protein-protein interactions and in the synthesis of other complex bioactive compounds for therapeutic uses. The research we carry out focuses on peptide molecules able to recognise and disrupt protein-protein interactions with a therapeutic interest. Also in the discovery of peptides able to act as shuttles and transport therapeutic and/or diagnostic agents across biological barriers.
Requirements:
Candidates should be highly motivated, enthusiastic about science, with an ability to think creatively and work independently. Previous experience in advanced peptide synthesis, organic synthesis on solid-support and optimization of drug candidates within and industrial environment will be positively evaluated.
