GIS Placement

Ribble Catchment Conservation Trust
England

The Ribble catchment is a sizeable area of over 860 square miles supporting significant numbers of important species of fish, mammals and invertebrates. In the past, industrial and agricultural pollution as well as water abstraction and inadequate sewage treatment have caused severe habitat damage to the Ribble and its tributaries, to such an extent that the wildlife supported by the river has been put under threat.

We are seeking an enthusiastic person with good GIS and data management skills with an understanding of metadata ideally qualified to undergraduate level or with demonstrable practical experience using ESRI GIS software to undertake a variety of geoprocessing and data management tasks to support the Trusts GIS Project Officer. In addition to technical GIS skills a good knowledge and understanding of wildlife, land management, river ecology and current agri-environment schemes would be beneficial to the position. This position is ideal for a motivated individual interested in gaining valuable GIS experience in a growing sector with one of the largest Rivers Trusts in England.
