PostDoc - Mechanisms of resistance to anti-angiogenic therapies

Description

Fully funded postdoctoral position to develop a part of the European Research Council (ERC) project “Mechanisms and Targeting Stromal Contribution to Tumour Invasion and Metastasis – STROMALIGN” involving mechanisms of adaptation and resistance to anti-angiogenic therapies in transgenic mouse models of cancer. Successful candidates will be offered a work contract funded by the European Research Council (ERC) for a duration of up to four years depending on satisfactory progress. After the finalization of the project continuation of the contract could be possible subject to funding availability. 
Successful candidates will join a young and well equipped research group to develop multidisciplinary frontier research. The group offers a stimulating research atmosphere where collaboration and exchange of ideas and techniques are actively encouraged providing a stimulating environment for young talents. 
Expected starting date is during Spring 2014. 
Review of applications will start immediately and will continue until a suitable candidate is found. 

Requirements

The applicants should hold a PhD on cellular/molecular biology, biochemistry and/or genetics, with experience in animal models of cancer, and should be first author of at least one article generated from their 
PhD thesis. Knowledge in statistics and strong writing skills in English are mandatory. Experience in transgenic animal models of cancer will be a valuable plus.

The Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) is a public comprehensive cancer centre combining prevention, care, specialised training and research. Since its foundation in 1996, ICO has become a centre of reference in healthcare quality (satisfaction survey results and the 2010 award for Best Clinical Practices from the National Health System, among others) and in research (the top Spanish hospital centre in terms of scientific quality, according to a SCImago independent international report, published recently). 
Gross Salary: 25.000 € Euro per year.
