PostDoc - Nanodevices

Catalan Institute of Nanotechnology
Barcelona, Spain

Description

Postdoctoral positions to work on spintronic devices are available in the group of Prof. Sergio O. Valenzuela, at the Catalan Institute of Nanotechnology (ICN). The general area of research is spin-dependent properties of graphene and topological insulators with an emphasis on spin transport and spin manipulation. The selected candidates will be involved in state-of-the-art device fabrication, characterization and (high-frequency) electrical measurements, and will work together with the group graduate students and collaborators. The positions are funded by the ERC Starting Grant SPINBOUND. They will be initially for two years, and could be extended by mutual agreement. The positions are available starting September 1st, 2013 but earlier/later starting dates are negotiable.

Requirements

A PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field is required at the time of joining the group. The applicants must have experience in electronic-transport techniques and show motivation, independence, excellent disposition towards challenging research problems and a good level of the English language. Experience with micro/nano-fabrication, such as electron-beam lithography, ultrahigh vacuum, molecular beam epitaxy or atomic force microscopy will be valued.

More information and applications

Applications should contain a curriculum vitae, including full list of publications, a short paragraph describing research interests, and names and contact details for three references. They should be e-mailed in PDF format to:
