PostDoc - Glycosylation in Cancer: Polymorphism, Differential Susceptibility, and Altered Expression

Institute of Predictive and Personalized Medicine of Cancer
Badalona, Spain

Description

The laboratory of Fumiichiro Yamamoto, Ph.D., a Senior Group Leader at the Institute of Predictive and Personalized Medicine of Cancer (IMPPC), is seeking for a motivated scientist-oriented postdoctoral fellow. The laboratory has played a major role in the elucidation of the molecular genetic basis of the histo-blood group ABO system, the structural basis of the A and B glycosyltransferases, and the evolution of the alpha 1,3 Gal(NAc) transferase family of genes. The current topics of interest include the studies on the functionality of glycosylation and the roles of glycosylation polymorphism in various physiological and pathological phenomena. One focus is given to the investigation of the molecular mechanisms by which glycosylation polymorphism, such as ABO, confers differential susceptibility to cancer. Future application of knowledge to the prevention and intervention of carcinogenesis is the goal.
