Description
Bioinformatician position to give support to research groups on genomics, epigenomics and transcriptomics data analysis at IBMB-CSIC. The Institute of Molecular Biology of Barcelona (IBMB) is a CSIC (Spanish Scientific National Council) institute devoted to basic research in the fields of Molecular Genomics, Cellular Biology, Development, and Protein Structure. The IBMB is located at the Scientific Park of Barcelona in an excellent and multidisciplinary scientific environment, close by the University of Barcelona. IBMB is among the top CSIC BIO institutes in Spain. We offer a position to set up a facility to provide biostatistics/bioinformatics support to the research groups of IBMB. Duties:
• Analyze data arising from microarrays and next generation sequencing (including ChIP-Chip, ChIP-seq, RNAseq) and other high-throughput technologies, and provide expertise in interpreting the results.
• Develop routines in programming languages like R, C, Perl or Python that allow a more efficient data analysis and presentation of results. Design and implementation of algorithms.
• Possibility to engage in cutting-edge statistical/bioinformatics research. Participation in experimental designs. Data-mining on open-access high-throughput data sets.
Requirements
• A Master or Bachelor degree in Bioinformatics, Statistics, Biology with computing background or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of biology and statistics, and previous extensive experience on computational analysis of large epigenomics data sets will be highly valuated.
• Good programming skills. Feeling comfortable in Unix-like environments, as well as experience in R, C, Python or Perl.
• Enthusiastic about participating in cutting-edge interdisciplinary research and being exposed to a continuous learning environment.
• Ability to multitask and to work in collaborative efforts, interacting with investigators in different disciplines.
• Good English and presentation skills.

Gross salary will be ca. 27,000€ per year depending on candidate qualifications.
