Description
CIC Energigune is a new energy research centre based in the Basque Country of Spain. Its mission is to play a leading role on the international stage in the field of energy storage technologies and contribute to the industrial competitiveness of Basque Country. CIC has a world-class research facility, cutting-edge equipments, an experienced management team, and a scientific committee composed of prominent scientists, entrepreneurs, and industrial experts. We are now inviting applications for a Ph.D. student position in the area of High-Temperature Thermal Energy Storage applied to Concentrated Solar Power. The work will be carried out within a project related to sensible heat storage system in the range of temperatures 650-1000 °C for an air-Brayton cycle. We are offering a 36 months position in collaboration with the University of the Basque Country (who will award the diploma) within a 3 years project. The work will be done at full-time at CIC Energigune facility. The research work will focus on the identification and characterization of innovative thermal energy storage materials and development and testing of a corresponding sustainable storage system. The work will be mainly experimental with a small part of modeling. The candidate will be part of a research team formed by seven doctors, two Ph.D. students and two technicians.
Requirements
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a background on engineering, thermodynamic and solar energy. Good English is required. Talent, enthusiasm for research and capability to work in an interdisciplinary and international environment are also expected.
