Description
Development of image simulations for the Euclid mission and on their scientific exploitation. Given the inputs from these collaborators, realistic simulated observations will be performed. These simulations will be used to test several science cases, involving both weak and strong lensing. In particular, the images will be used for :
- calibrating and developing software for the automatic detection of strong lensing features (in the framework of the Bologna Lens Factory project);
- testing parametric and non-parametric methods for reconstructing the mass distribution of clusters using weak and strong lensing;
- calibrating and developing software for detecting galaxy clusters using optimal filtering techniques.
