Description

The CNIC, (Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares), has been created to undertake world-class, internationally competitive research into the origin and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The research centre is located in Madrid in a new building with over 6.000 square meters of laboratory space and equipped with a comprehensive modern infrastructure. The CNIC Bioinformatics Unit is a core facility that provides CNIC researchers with ad-hoc, state-of-the-art bioinformatics and computational biology solutions to enhance the results of their research. Key to the success of the unit is close cooperation with biological and clinical partners. The CNIC Bioinformatics Unit is looking to incorporate a Bioinformatician / Computational biologist / Biostatistician to collaborate in the analysis of high-throughput (HT) biomedical data (e.g. array data, next generation sequencing (NGS) data, etc). Responsibilities:

- Data process of HT/NGS data as service for researchers at CNIC
- Statistical analysis of HT/NGS data as service for researcher at CNIC
- Training on data analysis and data analysis tools as service for researcher at CNIC

Requirements

- Degree in a relevant subject (Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics or other related biomedical sciences). PhD or MSc will be valued
- Experience analyzing HT biomedical data (i.e. NGS data)
- Background on the relevant technical areas
- Good programming skills in Perl, shell scripting and R/Bioconductor. Other programming languages will be valued
- Knowledge of data mining against biological databases
- Knowledge of batch and parallel processing in HPC/Grid environment
- Knowledge of working with relational database backend
- Good publication record on the relevant technical areas
- Ability to work at an interdisciplinary nodal position
- Fluent in English and with good skills in technical writing and communication
